Simple Chapati Recipe
Ayurvedic Bread at home. This is a quick and easy recipe to make at home alongside your favourite Dhal or Kitchari recipes.
Once you have mastered the art of making this chapati, you can add different flours and spices to get a different taste every time!
Preparation time : 20 -25 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients
1 cup of flour (change it up for different tastes)
1/4 teaspoon mineral salt
1 + tablespoon ghee (plus more for cooking)
Spices you can add for different flavours; cardamom, turmeric, ginger, garlic, paprika and assorted herbs just to name a few
Mix the flour, salt and ghee togethe, using clean hands.
Gradually add the water until the flour is consistently mixed and a little sticky.
Divide the mixture into four pieces.
Heat the frypan on a medium heat.
Roll each piece in the palm of your hand to form a ball. Set the four balls aside.
Put flour on your countertop and roll one ball out flat with the palm of your hand. Generously sprinkle flour on top, turn it over and press with your palm again.
Place the first chapati in the pan with a little ghee, whilst you roll the second one out, and repeat the process. If you roll them all out at the same time, they will be dried out by the end of the cooking process. It is best to roll just before you are ready to cook it.
You may add more ghee when cooking if you want a more buttery taste, just be mindful of Kapha imbalances though.
Enjoy xo
