Hi, I’m Karina Varnum.

I am an Ayurvedic Health Counsellor and Meditation teacher based in Newcastle, NSW. My passion for all things Ayurveda bloomed from my first trip to India in 2011. From a young age, I have always had a deep seated yearning to help people, and through an Ayurvedic lens, I can now guide people to heal themselves holistically.

My own personal story was decades of living through pain each month; endometriosis, polyps, brain fog, infertility and heavy periods. My doctor advised a full hysterectomy. This didn’t sit well with me as I knew there had to be an alternative. On that first trip to India I went to an Ayurvedic Health centre and sought out treatment. The results, however, were short lived, as I came back home and continued doing exactly what I had always done. I rushed through my days trying to fit as much in as possible. This included eating on the run, late nights and early mornings. I was burnt out emotionally and physically.

It was then I decided I was ready to make changes in my life.

I started with a month long Ayurvedic Agni Therapy Cleanse. Within two months of changing my diet, taking Ayurvedic supportive herbs, introducing breath work, meditation, not suppressing natural urges, and working through my Samskaras (blocked energy/stored memories throughout my body), I was symptom free.

This was after 30 plus years of misery.

I haven’t had pain since. My brain fog has gone, my energy levels are even throughout the day, and life is blissful and calm. Although we are conditioned to believe that a pill or surgery will fix things quickly, our body knows how to heal itself.

We just need to stop insulting it, and get out of our own way to allow it the time to heal. What I discovered through Ayurveda is these symptoms are normal and common but they aren’t natural!

Your body is not supposed to feel this way!

This 5,000 year old holistic healing system just made sense and resonated with me on a deep level.

I would love to share the tools of living a holistic lifestyle with you. For years I thought I ate healthy, worked hard, exercised hard and played hard. This was the wrong approach for me personally.

Once I discovered my Dosha, my unique blue print, I now live a life that aligns with my true nature. I feel an innate sense of ease. I eat for my body type, I sleep 8 hours a night, I walk in nature and participate in weekly yoga classes.

I am no longer just checking things off my to do list and rushing through the day. I thrive on finding time for me, to just sit, watch my breath, and smile to myself, knowing all will be well and the universe has my back.

We just need to remind ourselves of that.
